If you've ever gotten to the end of the day and you got nothing accomplished, then you need to establish rituals, routines, and habits. Do you know what you need to do each day to move forward in your business and life? That's what you're going to learn in this post.
I love the word rituals. It sounds so exotic. The idea of using the word ritual instead of routine or habit came from Eben Pagan's Wake Up Productive program. I incorporated it into my language.
Rituals, Routines, and Habits at Home
Years ago, I looked into Flylady.net. She has a whole system of how to keep your house in order and presentable. While I haven't mastered it, I did use her idea of “Before Bed Routine” and “Morning Routine”. Here's what she suggests.
- Get Dressed to Shoes
- Swish and Swipe
- Make Your Bed
- Check Your Calendar
- Reboot the Laundry
- What's for Dinner
Swish and Swipe and What's for Dinner hasn't made it into my morning ritual. My husband does the cooking so that one won't. I have clean kitty litter boxes and dishes on my list.
Before Bed Routine
- Lay out Your Clothes for tomorrow
- Check Your Calendar
- Put things needed for tomorrow at the Launch Pad
- Where are your Keys?
- Spend Two Minutes Clearing off a Hot Spot
- Shine Your Sink
- Wash face/Brush Teeth
- Go to Bed at a Decent Hour
I do all of these except Where Are Your Keys. I trained myself to put my keys in the same spot.
Flylady also has an afternoon routine and you can check out today's flight plan here.
Rituals, Routines, and Habits For Your Business
I learned zero level marketing from my good friend Diane Hochman. Here are the three things that you must do every day (weekdays are fine) for your business
- Create Content
- Connect with people (the number depends on your time)
- Email your list
Content can be anything from Facebook Lives, recorded videos, blog posts, Slideshares, etc.
How do you connect with people? Diane teaches inside MLSP, to go to a well-known person's profile that is in your niche and follow everyone that has at a minimum five friends in common with you. People will naturally follow you back or even friend you. You then have a starting place to message people who were interested in you.
What do you email? You can share your content or someone else's content. Tell a story about how your product or service helped you, share a life event, share what you're learning. There's a never-ending supply of content to share with your list.
